Holland, Michigan
The 2008 Tulip Time Festival will be on May 3rd-10th. The tulips are currently right on target for a glorious display of color during the festival. With the parades, Street Washing, and Klompen Dancers this years festival should be fun for all ages.
Holland glows and blushes with the tulip lined streets every spring. A formidable, friendly city , Holland features a fabulous and unique shopping district along 8th Street through the heart of downtown. In the winter, these downtown streets are HEATED to avoid the unsavory mess of snow and slush, making downtown shopping convenient year round.
Holland enjoys a harmonious diverse population that enhances the local dining experience to include a wide variety of cuisines. After hours, great night life can be found downtown and along Ottawa Beach Rd. Holland also features education and cultural events through Hope College just south of Downtown, and at the Holland Museum.
Of course, like most Lake Michigan Lakeshore cities, it is a boater’s paradise with Macatawa Bay access to Lake Michigan.
AMT’S PICK: Tunnel Park. This a great family beach tucked into the dune. In fact, you have to walk through a tunnel through a dune to actually get to the beach. This park features picnics, playgrounds, beach bumming and dune climbing.
