Grand Haven, Michigan
Grand Haven is conveniently located on the Lake Michigan shore directly west of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grand Haven has been designated as "Coast Guard City USA" and plays host the last weekend of July through the first weekend of August for the Coast Guard Festival.
Voted one of Michigan’s “Cool Cities” in 2005, Grand Haven attracts young and old alike. Enjoy great food, shopping, the 2 mile boardwalk that leads from Chinook Pier to the lighthouse. Beach access is at the Grand Haven City Beach, Grand Haven’s Michigan State Park, and also along the North Pier down North Shore Drive in Ferrysburg. Grand Haven City Beach and the beach at Grand Haven State Park were selected among the best beaches in the country by Good Morning America on July 27th, 2005.
Grand Haven is also home to the worlds largest musical fountain. The popular summertime attraction is a synchronized light and music show located across the Grand River Channel in downtown Grand Haven. Performances begin at dusk during the spring and summer months. Many of the nightly programs have been recently updated.
AMT’S PICK: Gather up the kids and watch them run off their extra energy at Mulligan’s Hollow featuring the Imagination Station. Located in the city up Y Drive, Mulligan’s Hollow features an incredible playground, a skating park, basketball court, and softball field. In the off season ski passes are available for the Ski Bowl at Mulligan’s Hollow.
