THINK SPRING!
Signs of Spring are EVERYWHERE in Michigan. The FIRST sign of real Spring came here on the beaches of Lake Michigan. The snow fences came down and now there is nothing between beachcombers and the water. In fact, it's officially time to kick off your shoes and feel the sand between your toes ;). With 60 and 70 degree temps, it's TIME!
Other SURE signs of Spring on the Lakeshore are the opening of Dairy Treat, Scoops and Miss Lisa's. I hope you exercised enough this winter to offset the ice cream you plan to eat this summer! Our daffodils are in bloom, and the grass is greening up. A rain shower or two from now, the carpet will be as true green as it gets.
Michigan has plenty to offer in the way of activities. We recently closed out Maple Syrup season but it is still for sale at Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids. Soon the Trillium will be blooming in the forest at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. In May we look forward to the arrival of the first major festival of the season, Tulip Time in Holland. We can almost SMELL the Tulips from here! Imagine! Street after street lined with blooming tulips! If you are looking for an unforgettable visual treat and the dutch cultural experience, mark your calendar now for this festival! Soon after, Feast of the Strawberry Moon follows in June. This is an authentic 18th century living-history experience! This is a great weekend excursion and very family oriented.

Major venues are making their announcements about top entertainment acts headed to Michigan as well. Big & Rich just announced that they will be at the Allegan County Fair, Pearl Jam is on the May schedule at Van Andel arena, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill make a return appearance there as well. The entertainment lineup for Summer Celebration has been announced and includes Smash Mouth, Sugarland and The Steve Miller Band. It's going to be an awesome 4th of July weekend with Summer Celebration to look forward to!
Until then, I'm keeping my eyes open to announce when the decks and patios open at our local restaurants here. Of course, the surest sign of summer on the horizon will be the opening of Pronto Pups and Butch's Beach Burritos. :-)
